Product Reviews

Izziwotnot's Bailey Sleigh cot bed isn't the cheapest but it's stylish and well-made. It's simple to put together, even though it will require two people. It also looks lovely in any nursery. The panel we tested loved the dark wood and the dowel sides, and it's robust enough to be used until your baby turns toddler. It also is compliant with British safety standards. The depth is not so great that your child will be able to get out the panel, and the distance between slats must not exceed 65mm. This should stop their heads from becoming trapped. You'll also have to buy a mattress, that costs an additional PS88.

The sleigh shape of this crib is gorgeous and makes it stand out from the rest. It's also easy to get your baby in and out, which is another major benefit. It's a bit more expensive than other cot-beds however our panel believed it was worth it due to the looks and durability.

The cot bed comes in either country pine or walnut finishes. It is suitable from the moment of birth. It has three useful mattress heights, meaning you can start your baby by putting the base up to make it easier for them to access it throughout the day and at the night, and then lower it as they develop. It comes with teething rails that safeguard your child's furniture and gums. When your child has grown out of their cot, you can easily convert it into a junior mattress, and then a couch.

The westport design from Silver Cross is another cot that is sturdy and built to last. It can be used as a cot starting at birth, later as a toddler bed and finally as a junior bed (toddler guard rails are sold separately). Our panel of experts found it difficult to change from cot to bed, however their other half of them said it was a doddle and took less than five minutes to complete. It's more expensive than other models however, you'll want to keep it for your children as they grow up.
